Compare IDR Exchange Rates Across Indonesian Banks

Need to exchange foreign currency in Indonesia? Our IDR Exchange Rates tool helps you find the best rates by comparing real-time data from five major Indonesian banks: BCA, Mandiri, BNI, BRI, and Bank Indonesia (BI). Whether you are a traveler, business owner, or simply sending money abroad, this tool makes it easy to see which bank offers the most favorable rate for your currency exchange needs.

Currency Calculator

Use our built-in Currency Calculator to instantly compare conversion results across all banks. Simply enter the amount you want to convert, select your currency, choose whether you want to buy or sell foreign currency, and see which bank gives you the best deal. The calculator highlights the "BEST" option and shows you exactly how much you can save compared to the worst rate.

Understanding Buy and Sell Rates

When exchanging currency, banks display two rates:

  • Buy Rate (Kurs Beli) - This is the rate at which the bank purchases foreign currency from you. If you have USD and want to convert it to IDR, the bank uses the buy rate. A higher buy rate means you receive more Rupiah for your foreign currency.
  • Sell Rate (Kurs Jual) - This is the rate at which the bank sells foreign currency to you. If you have IDR and want to buy USD, the bank uses the sell rate. A lower sell rate means you pay less Rupiah to get foreign currency.

The difference between buy and sell rates is called the "spread" - this is how banks earn profit from currency exchange.

Types of Exchange Rates Explained

Indonesian banks typically offer three types of exchange rates:

  • e-Rate (Electronic Rate) - Used for electronic transactions such as online banking transfers, mobile banking, and internet banking. These rates usually offer the smallest spread, making them the most cost-effective option for digital transactions.
  • TT Counter (Telegraphic Transfer) - Applied to over-the-counter wire transfers and remittances at bank branches. These rates have a slightly wider spread than e-Rate but are suitable for sending or receiving international transfers.
  • Bank Notes (Uang Kertas) - Used when you physically exchange cash at a bank branch or money changer. These rates typically have the widest spread because handling physical currency involves additional costs for the bank.

How to Use This Tool

Using our IDR Exchange Rates comparison tool is simple:

  1. Enter the amount in Indonesian Rupiah you wish to exchange
  2. Select a specific bank or view rates from all banks simultaneously
  3. Choose your preferred currency (USD, EUR, SGD, JPY, etc.)
  4. Compare the buy and sell rates across different banks
  5. Look for the "BEST" badge to quickly identify which bank offers the most favorable rate
  6. Use the Currency Calculator tab to compare conversion results side by side
